  3. a good ikea Jerker desk alternative? - [H]ard|Forum

    hardforum.com/threads/a-good-ikea-jerker-desk-alternative...

I had a Jerker during college, and I can attest that it's the best damn desk! I recently went to Ikea to look at furniture, and while I was there I took a look at the desks. They have a "make your own desk" section where you can select from a variety of tabletops and leg configurations (some of which are even height adjustable!).

  6. A few questions about Ikea Galant desk - [H]ard|Forum

    hardforum.com/threads/a-few-questions-about-ikea-galant...

2,302. IKEA has an annoying and inexplicable habit of discontinuing popular lines. They whacked the enormously popular Jerker and now the Galant. The main attraction of the Galant was its customization possibilities. You literally could put together a desk of any size, length, or shape.

  7. Looking for online alternatives to Ikea GALANT (or similar desk)

    17. Ohmycaptain said: The galant is really the best, but the other day I went to Ikea and they were out of the Galants. I bought the Vika Amon 79" desk, and a galant frame. I drilled the holes I needed for the galant frame and it's working great. Unfortunately I don't think the Vika Amon comes in an L shape.

  8. Affordable Oversized Table/Desk Tops? - [H]ard|Forum

The price of $229 is much better than the $1,000+ pricetags I've seen on solid hardwood tops, and there are alternatives that are even cheaper, like KARLBY that runs for only $149. I also got 5 black OLOV adjustable desk legs. I went with 5, as I've heard of some wood not intended for desk applications warping with time.

You should check out the Galant from Ikea. Very modular so you can design it to fit your space. I needed a very sturdy corner desk in order to hold my 96 lb CRT monitor (Sony GDM-FW900), and the Galant fit the bill nicely. Very well built (I have the T-leg model). I could easily add another FW900 and not worry about it being too much for the desk.

For the ultimate in cheap desk surface I introduce the solid core interior door (here is a Lowes link for $62 if you can find one in stock near you). I stained the desk myself and lacquered it for some extra protection. I initially used 5 Ikea legs for $4/each for a super solid desk under $100. I upgraded to Uplift v2 legs/frame just before the ...

Supreme [H]ardness. that sharp center v is because you have to adjust it. the center needs to come forward to reduce the angle. you can google "dual 27" curved" to see what they would look like. The way this stand adjusts to get the V to pretty much go away the monitors end up in the middle of the desk.
