Short answer is yes - an extension cable (or replacement) can negatively affect charging rates. Any extra resistance anywhere in the charge path will lower the rate. Yea, you're right, I didn't read the post properly, the simple answer for the OP is to buy a long replacement charger cable rather than use an extension cable.

This means that if you were charging wirelessly your phone, when connecting the usb cable, the wireless charging stops and the usb charging starts regardless if it is connected to a fast or regular charger.
