Even I have the same problem. I once bought something on amazon website while travelling in Germany. Now the app would show everything in German language on my passport. Tried changing the language to English on the amazon website but the appstore still shows everything in German. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hold down your top button for about 30 seconds. Keep pressing it down, ignoring onscreen countdown and restart option, BB splashscreen, and black screen. The red LED will turn on. As soon as LED turns off, release the top key.
The solution was a combination of the Kindle app and another app that never completely installed. I logged out of all amazon related apps from kindle, prime video, and the amazon shopping app. Prime video never worked either, but kindle and the shopping app did work. I guess I will just dl android apps from apktrain.com from now on? Just can't get amazon appstore to work.... Posted via CB10
Yeah you can disable with parental controls and that virtually locks it down. You can also close it from Settings => Device Monitor => CPU => long press on the app => Close. It will stay closed until you open it or use an app that calls it, or until you reboot. I do the same with all Android apps I don't use.
This has happened to me a couple of times. Go into your file manager, search for amazon, there should be two folders that pop up, one of these should contain the app apk you were trying to install, find it, open it and install the app. Posted via CB10
Amazon App store will not open. Anything downloaded with Snap won't open. Blackberry runtime for Android (from Blackberry world) never completes setup. Other apps from the Blackberry world don't work. I have formatted the phone twice now, trying to get it to work. Now if I press AMAZON Appstore the phone just freezes so its working even less.
At least on my Passport, if you set the App Appearance to "Zoomed out"/"Full screen", the Appstore has a BlackBerry 10 app design to it with the bottom panel. It doesn't look like BlackBerry World, but it looks something like BBM or the BB10 WhatsApp app. Just tried both Amazon apps; both working.
So I finally got my Passport yesterday and I've got to say I'm more impressed by it than I thought I would be. The only issue I have with it so far is with the Amazon app, when I try to open it, it asks for permissions, I hit OK and the app just fails, doesn't even attempt to open. Of course, you can't delete it to reload, that would be too simple!
Try a restart: Press and HOLD both Vol Up/Down buttons. Keep holding while the screen goes fully black (ignore the screenshot), keep holding through the Black/White logo and when the Colored Logo shows up, release those buttons. If you have the STL100-1 variant the volume button reset method doesn't work.
