r/QuadCities: Subreddit for the Quad Cities metropolitan area in the Illinois/Iowa border for Quad Citians and visitors.
The way I see it, the Quad Cities is a moderate sized metro area without paying the costs of the bigger metro areas. You are a reasonable drive from 3 larger areas (Chicago, St. Louis and Twin Cities) to where it's not much of a drive for a weekend getaway. The biggest downside to this area, IMO, is the lack of major medical care here.

The quad cities has a few ethnic grocery stores from Asian, Mexican, Indian All strewn about the cities. I do deep dives in those stores and learn to make new recipes and enjoy new cultures. We have hockey in the winter and concerts all summer long throughout the whole area, bars will do theme nights every week.
Zeke's Island Cafe. This place has gained quite a bit of traction from word of mouth but I still would say most people have not been there. There just isn't any other place in the quad cities to get these kinds of flavors. They serve Caribbean style cuisine and the flavors always seem to be a perfect blend.
There's a decent amount of bars, breweries, restaurants scattered throughout the downtown and more suburban areas. Typically nothing too special, but nothing that will really disappoint either. Traffic is extremely manageable anywhere you go, and we have MOST of the commodities of larger cities. Reply.
