ActBlue is like Kickstarter for Democrats; they are a payment processor. Candidates go to them and set up accounts where people can contribute money towards their campaign. ActBlue is also a general Democrat platform, they set up general funds which distribute money to the candidates ActBlue decides.
I get about 8 texts a week, often more, no option to tell them to completely stop giving my number out
PACs (which include ActBlue) are also limited to how much they can donate per election, so their matching ability is similarly limited. There are two types of "matching" that are allowed that I know of. One is half talked about in that article I linked: Booker said a group of founding donors agreed to match donations?
Welcome to r/scams. This is an educational subreddit focused on scams. It is our hope to be a wealth of knowledge for people wanting to educate themselves, find support, and discover ways to help a friend or loved one who may be a victim of a scam.

If “ActBlue” said you needed to pay for a third party in order to cancel recurring donations you were not talking to the actual ActBlue. Setting up and cancelling recurring donations are core functions for that kind of nonprofit. In fact I just looked at ActBlue’s website and they have clear instructions on how to stop a recurring charge.
Has anyone in the past been successful in getting a refund through ActBlue? My sensitive mouse accidentally clicked $250 for one of the Senate Campaigns, which is 10x more than what I was planning to give. I didn't realize till after when the transaction appeared on my credit card statement. It's been 4 days since I messaged them, and no luck.
This is correct. ActBlue will send that money out right away to Biden. Nothing will ever be formally rejected, or called out by BLM.
