I cannot download the latest version of McAfee Total Protection. McAfee support told me it was because I was running Windows 10 Home in Test Mode. I tried updating Windows 10, but from all indications, what I am running is the most current version. I was able to remove that watermark about test mode, but that did not resolve the problem.

In reply to Patti Fisher's post on June 21, 2023. Hold down Windows+R > type control.exe > find Programs and Features > check this list to see if McAfee is still present on your computer. If you don't have this program, please share the popup you see.
I am using an old HP laptop running Windows 10. I have searched and tried everything I’ve found, I cannot get McAfee off my computer. It’s constantly running, taking up memory and disk space, and ending the task in task manager does nothing. My computer is already using Windows Defender, bur McAfee just. Won’t. Close.
Whether you want to use Windows Defender or want to install another AV depends on your own preferences and habits. Personally, I prefer a third party product. No matter which AV you use, there might be situations in which you want to use other Anti-Malware programs for occasional, on-demand scans. With regard to McAfee also please read this post.
