2.9k. Location. S. Michigan. Posted July 18, 2017. Thanks to @Fossil-Hound, who recently submitted a trip report to Paulding, Ohio, I was reminded that I had not been there yet and decided to head down there today. As mentioned by Fossil-Hound, this is "spoil" from the LaFarge Quarry which operates just down the road from the site.

  4. Snake Vert? - Fossil ID - Fossil ID - The Fossil Forum

    www.thefossilforum.com/topic/143714-snake-vert

Posted August 1. The vertebra is a reptile vertebra with a ball and socket. It is pretty beat up (processes missing) and still partially filled with formation sand, which makes a positive ID from the pictures not possible for me. Sea snake vertebrae, from Palaeophis sea snakes, are very common at the Fisher/Sullivan site.

All the Ordovician formations known from southern Ontario, including the Shadow Lake, Gull River, Bobcageon, Verulam, and Lindsay also occur in the Ottawa area. Note that until somewhat recently these were given different names in the Ottawa area (Pamelia, Leray/Rockland, Hull, Sherman Fall, and Cobourg respectively).

Nice finds and great report! So many baculites! The first part reminds me of the traditional end of meal ritual during my families get-togethers where each families Matriarch or Patriarch (and the grandparents) scrambles to pay the bill before everyone else, The feeling of being generous and kind outweighs that of fairness or practicality, which is not too bad of a thing.

So I ran you photos past Dr. Steven Manchester up at UF who graciously took a look. (He has published a great deal on the Green River Fm. and similar aged plant material.)

Does anyone know of any public access points to Spring Creek in Cooke County? I understand this is a prime spot to find ammonites, but I haven't been able to find a location on Spring Creek where the public can search. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Stumbled on this site and remembered I had an account that I haven't used for a while. Five years later, I thought I'd post an update. Shark Tooth Island is located in Wilmington, NC, just off the shore from River Road Park. If you're standing at the boat ramp facing the river, the island directly in front of you is Keg Island.
