Although the support for Office 2016 for Mac has ended on October 13, 2020, you can still download the Office that is only compatible in MacOS for Office 2016.The latest version of Office 2016 for MacOS is Version 16.16.27 (20101200). Hi, according to Microsoft and I quote " If you choose to upgrade to Microsoft 365 or Office 2021 for Mac, you'll simply need to remove the existing Office 2019 for Mac license, but you won't need to remove your Office apps". Therefore uninstalling and reinstalling does not solve this issue.

But if I email it to myself I am able to open it. If your using Outlook to download the the document, you need to go to the outlook forum.
