Source: Indianapolis International Airport [1] Indianapolis International Airport ( IATA: IND, ICAO: KIND, FAA LID: IND) is an international airport located seven miles (11 km) southwest of downtown Indianapolis in Marion County, Indiana, United States. [2] It is owned and operated by the Indianapolis Airport Authority.
In 1897, Indianapolis responded with the annexation of five suburbs: Brightwood, Haughville, Mount Jackson, North Indianapolis, and West Indianapolis. Between 1890 and 1900, the city's land area had more than doubled from 12.4 square miles (32 km 2) to 27.21 square miles (70.5 km 2).
The Domestic Terminal is located on the west side of the airport and the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal is on the east side of the airport. The terminals and concourses are connected by the Transportation Mall, a pedestrian tunnel with a series of moving walkways and The Plane Train, a 24/7 underground automated people mover.
