The history of Harvard University begins in 1636, when Harvard College was founded in the young settlement of New Towne in Massachusetts, which had been settled in 1630. New Towne was organized as a town on the founding of the university, and changed its name two years later to Cambridge, Massachusetts , in honor of the city in England.
(The logo is very old, first recorded 6 January 1644 and would not have met the threshold of originality. The seal transformed over time but the current design of books and the shield was based on Pierre la Rose (1895) design as stated here. The addition of "Harvard University" does not pass the threshold so does not constitute a derivative work.)
