It is possible to download raw data for a certain area, entire countries or regions, or certain features such as roads or buildings. There are also many ways to use use existing sets or of OpenStreetMap data, such as map images, routing software and more.

The first method is to download directly from the OpenStreetMap website using their exporter. Simply go to www.openstreetmap.org and find the area you would like to download data for. Hit the “Export” button and you will see a screen with the Extent of the download appear.
