Burger King has always been decent, OP. It never was the best fast food chain around, but their burgers are pretty good if I might say so myself (for a fast food joint). I always found the burgers in Burger King superior to say McDonalds, but their fries and nuggets suck.

You joke but tbh, having so many fast foot places near schools is an issue. There's a local school I drive past and there is a Subway, McDonalds, Burger King, and 3 local fish & chip places a 5 minute walk away.
If your highest priority is the best burger for the absolutely lowest price you can get, then get a Wendy's Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger. For everyone else, In-N-Out is pretty good, but In-N-Out lines can kind of make the value a little less worth it as well.
