If you've never logged in you can setup the login on the DirecTV website with information beyond your account number. You can pay there as well. If you pay over the phone with the voice system or online it posts same day. By any other 3rd party method (bank's bill pay, MoneyGram, etc.) it can take up to 3 business days to post.
4 years ago. You don't need your account number. Even if you are registering on the DirecTV website for the first time, you only need to input 2 of the 3 required fields. So phone number on file and zip code will allow you to create the online access. The account number is listed on the DirecTV bill (their bill only, not a AT&T combined bill).

I have an overdue bill and want to pay. When I paid by cc to a DirecTV person, the amount went to my ATT account.
A few years ago AT&T's CEO stated there will be no more discounts for existing customers, since then AT&T sold off 30% of DTV and the new partner is running the day to day operations. You can try calling DTV at 1-800-531-5000 to see if there are any but there may not be any. 0.

Due date to be paid is Feb 24. This is for service Feb 4 thru Mar 3. So the bill comes out at the start of the cycle (what they mean by billing in advance) instead of after the cycle has completed. Service is not shut off the day you call (unless that was the last day of the cycle of course). You pay for the full cycle, you get the full cycle.
