Colomby was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 19, 1952. His father, Harry, was a jazz agent, manager, and school teacher [1] and his mother, Lee, is a stage actress. While Scott was in grade school, his family moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. Colomby attended Beverly Hills High School and graduated in 1970.
Scott's fiancé, John Dennis Levi, a police officer with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, died in the September 11 attacks.
