Blayze-. •. Persona 4 Golden - This title has the best main cast and the best music of any title, and the dungeons are quite enjoyable and probably the second best. A great narrative as well. Persona 5 Royal - The dungeons in this title are by far some of the best in the series, and the main cast is the second best of any game.
The only mainline games with a direct connection are Persona 1, Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. Those are the only Persona games you should play in order, otherwise you'd be missing out on a lot of context. Everything else can be jumped into freely. Persona 5 Royal or Persona 4 Golden are pretty decent starting points ...
The first three games (Persona 1, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment) are kind of separate from the rest of the series. They’re pure RPGs and directly related in terms of plot (recurring characters, etc). While 3, 4, and 5 are life-sim/RPGs and self-contained in terms of story.
Persona 4 Arena and Arena Ultimate are fighting games, and P4: Dancing All Night is a rhythm game spinoff. Personas 3 and 4 had a cartoony crossover game, called Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth which doesn't reach the character depth of P3 and P4 on their own, but allow for a lot of interactions you wouldn't otherwise get.
Make Persona 3 Reload your first "Persona 3" game. Make Persona 4 Golden your first "Persona 4" game. Make Persona 5 Royal your first "Persona 5" game. If you intend to play any "Persona 2" game, know that its main story is split between two games. Innocent Sin is to be played before Eternal Punishment. 1.
The first few hours of Shin Megami Tensei 1, but the nukes never drop (1995) then SMT If (1995) then Persona 1 (1996) then, Persona 2 IS (August of 1999) and EP (somewhere in 2000.) Then, nothing happens for close to 10 years until Persona 3 rolls around (2006) followed by P4 (2011) and P4AU (2012) followed by Persona 5 (2016) and Persona 5 ...
Persona 3 Portable or Persona 1 is what I'd recommend. Persona 3 Portable is the best modern Persona game in my opinion, and Revelations: Persona on the PlayStation Classic was so good it's what got me into the franchise (but don't get Revelations, the PlayStation Portable remake is a much more faithful localization).
9. Tenashko. • 5 yr. ago. From hardest to easiest. P3FES>P4>PQ>P5. PQ isn't hard it's just long. While I'm one of the few who enjoyed it, the AI party members does make P3 difficult at times. P5 allowing the player to choose the skills a persona inherits, as well as giving access to an Invigorate 3 accessory early on, baton pass, Futaba being ...

Persona 3 Reload: P3 was the first game that took the SMT games from a niche game in the global audience to a mainstream game. the original was a bit dated, so Reload basically cleaned it up. the plot's more coherent, the game a little more forgiving time-wise, the user experience is WAY better, and so forth.
