Just finished watching this. Peter did not understand what Alex was asking him so his brain malfunctioned and he turned into a toddler. I'm a fan of Alex's, but I do think he should have been combative towards Peter towards the end, Hitchens was treating him like absolute garbage.
Peter Hitchens has a "Reefer Madness" attitude no less fanatical than any 1930s crusader. Any mention of drugs (read: cannabis) sends his blood pressure through the roof. He's been this way for a very long time.
Peter Jonathan Hitchens is a British journalist and author. Formerly a foreign correspondent in Washington and Moscow, he writes a weekly column for The Mail on Sunday. Peter Hitchens Blog. Peter Hitchens on Twitter. Bibliography. The Abolition of Britain (1999) Monday Morning Blues (2000) A Brief History of Crime (2003)
Peter Hitchens is seen by many as a standard-bearer for 'traditional conservatism' or whatever you want to call it since Roger Scruton popped his clogs a few years ago, but I think you might be pissing in the wind because I just watched a 71-year-old man behave like a toddler.
Peter Hitchens, as famous a pioneer of the transatlantic "skeptic movement" as his brother, did not like his interviewer questioning the validity of his claims. in a book that weed is worse than "herder" drugs like LSD and Cocaine.
Christopher Hitchens knew that Peter Hitchens had rhetorical talent. He said as much in a debate they had together about Peter Hitchens' book the Abolition of Britain. You can go to minute 25 of this video and listen to Christopher Hitchens praise Peter Hitchens for a very right wing speech he just made.
Does anyone know how to contact Peter Hitchens? I remember he once said that if people wanted to contact him there was the option of reaching him trough The Mail Sunday. Does he mean there is an e-mail you can use that would reach him (haven't found any on his blog), or does he mean you can mail him a letter addressed to The Mail Sunday.
I remember watching a video of (possibly) Christopher Hitchens discussing socialism (possibly) on a phone-in radio show - he or the presenter told a brief quip that I am desperate to remember. It is along the lines of “the modern leftist revolutionary is comforted by the secret conviction that the revolution will never actually take place”.
Peter Hitchens acted like a complete man-baby from the get go. Even when he was welcomed onto the podcast, he gave a snarky response. Sadly, he got even more insufferable from there. He kept interrupting the interviewer and going on diatribe about how he was "bored" of the subject but wouldn't let the interviewer follow-up.
Didn't even know Peter Hitchens existed so can't speak to his comments, but: we do know marijuana use can exacerbate some mental illnesses and perhaps trigger some that are latent (schizophrenia, psychotic disorders, etc.)
