I've used ankle holsters for many years and my $30 Uncle Mike's is better than either of my $75 Galco ankle gloves. In fact, I actually got the ankle gloves for free, but I still paid for an Uncle Mikes. I spent several years carrying daily in one. For most purposes, Galco ankle goves suck (and Galco is my favorite holster brand).
This Galco holster will work with a Para USA double-stack 1911 or with a Detonics MTX double-stack 1911 with extended magazine release. My CrossBreed does not work with my double-stack 1911 pistols. The difference between the 2 holsters is that the Galco has a "combat cut" but the CrossBreed that I own does not have the "combat cut" feature . . .
OK. I pocket carry a Glock 42 in one of these Galco horsehide holsters. I really like it, it works very well, and it is the only holster I'm really impressed with. I see Galco makes this holster to fit the G26. I want to get one but they will set you back $100. I got mine used for the 42 for way less than that.
Galco makes a few dumb holsters, but also some of the best non-custom house leather holsters you can buy. The Royal Guard and Summer Comfort are fantastic holsters for the money, for example. 10 Ring #2910, Wheelhouse #6254455, Big Dawg #447, Dardick Club #1
Yes, I have been carrying with shoulder holsters for a few years now due to back pain. Using a tight belt for a holster causes back pain, but ny shoulder holsters allow me to carry pain free. I do prefer horizontal holsters and carry Sig P365XL and Glock 23 (.40 cal). Neither prints, and I believe yoe can draw faster with the horizontal.
If I were given a choice between a Galco holster (of which I have owned many), and a Wm. Tucker 'HF-1' holster, I would choose the Tucker every single time. Why? Because Tucker holsters are made out of a much higher grade of leather—Vegetable-Tanned, 'Oak', I believe. View attachment 1326999 There's another reason too: Tucker's
I'm not talking about the guy who busts out a Galco Miami Classic once or twice every blue moon and thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread (I am already well aware of the quality of Galco's shoulder holsters vs better made ones in the same or higher price ranges ). I'm talking about really GOOD, high quality, high end shoulder or chest ...

Up for sale (lower 48 only) is a gorgeous condition Galco pocket holster (PH158) for a 2 inch J frame revolver. It is constructed of horsehide with a smooth lining and rough outside that grabs the inside of your pocket during the draw. Ambidextrous carry. This holster sells for around $65...
I've had enough experience with other leather holsters to know what works for me. I still think the high position of the SG with a heavy subcompact like the 30 puts it in an out-of-balance position. The holsters that work well with the 30 all have a much lower center of gravity. Its a nicely built holster. It just doesn't work for me.
