Sleeping dogs is another great open world game. Super detailed and one of the few games set in hong kong. Red dead redemption is a must play for a ps3 owner since it was never remastered or re-released on any later generations. I also highly recommend uncharted 2 if you liked the 1st one.
Dead Island, Watch Dogs, Sleeping Dogs, Dark Souls, Assassin's Creed.. Red Dead Redemption and Skyrim are pretty much as good as they get. Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls Oblivion are also great, but might be a bit dated. Far Cry 2 is also great. The original Three Mass effects aren't really open world games.
GTAV and Skyrim. And yes, GTAV does count as open world, since the map is just as big as the map in Skyrim, and has plenty of wilderness! (also, you can hunt game in both games!) The first ones that comes to mind, are Skyrim and New Vegas. Not RPG, but 1 of the best (if not the best period) open world titles on PS3 is Red Dead Redemption.

These are less 'open world' and more 'rpg' - in fact, they're all 'proper' RPGs Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch - Probably the best looking game on PS3, which isn't surprising given Studio Ghibli had a hand in it. Okami. Skyrim. Tomb Raider. Darksiders. Borderlands. Oblivion and Skyrim spring to mind. Burnout: Paradise City is a cool open world racing game. Lego Lord of the Rings is open world and pretty fun, especially if you have 2 players. Yakuza 3 and 4, Way of the Samurai.
Open-world, exploring games. I need recommendations for open-world games where exploration is a main feature. Great Examples of what I mean include Far Cry 3 and Red Dead Redemption. Other examples (but not quite) include Skyrim and GTA5. Why Far Cry 3 and Red Dead Redemption hit the mark for me is because the exploring could be really relaxing.

jake1203n. ••. The LEGO Hobbit had one of the most visually stunning open worlds in a video game. The LEGO Movie Videogame has the best music in the open worlds. Cloud Cuckooland theme never fails to get stuck in my head. But in terms of gameplay, I would have to say LEGO Batman 2 takes the cake. Reply reply.
