I'm new here, and try not to be one who makes assumptions and jumps to conclusions. Is it legitimately possible for someone to complete a crossword puzzle sub 2 minutes? If so that's incredible, but to my experience level seems super-human. Cheers! :)

These puzzles are pretty obviously created/auto-generated with the aid of commercially-available crossword/acrostic-creation software like Crossword Compiler, which contains large databases of canned clues. Pretty much all puzzle creators use them these days for initial creation, then tweak clues by hand to put their imprint on them.
Remember though: for the 8x8 puzzles, there must be one star in each row, column and shape, and no two stars can touch each other, even diagonally. I did see your comment come through for that one puzzle you felt had 3 valid solutions, but I double checked it and it does indeed have just one unique valid solution.

If you look at the records section, you can see that a lot of the records are being set in the 80,000-90,000 range because its way easier to set records on new puzzles. In fact, a user name TPITTMAN44 recently set a 275 second record on puzzle #87976. From that, I'm guessing there are around 90,000 but if not, it's definitely in the upper 80,000s.
