Please try the following: in your Notebook, open WorkShelf Preferences, go to the Advanced tab and click the Backup button. Now give your backup a *unique* name, e.g.; "this is my test backup". Now go to your desktop PC, open WorkShelf Preferences, go to the Advanced tab and click the Restore button.
You can, however, change the style of the Nexus control icon (right click the control icon -> appearance and sounds -> Control Icon Color) or disable it completely. Since you're running Nexus Ultimate, I assume you're also using the Shelf (tabbed dock). So lets try to see if this is Shelf related or not: open Preferences and go to Docks & Shelves tab. Unselect the 'Enabled' check box for the Shelf and press OK. This will make the Shelf disappear and will take it out of the equation.
