Number 13 is very significant for Colgate University. In sept 1817, 13 men gathered and offered 13 prayers and 13 Dollars. The occasion culminated in settling on 13 articles for a constitution that led to the creation of what is now Colgate University.
Unlike Hamilton, Colgate has more students, more faculty, and has been pouring money into the sciences recently. The Robert Ho Science center is newest, most beautiful, and most well-equipped building on campus. Colgate sciences are tough, but if you are decently good at them, a GPA above a 3.0 is attainable.

Youtube is full of past and current students who address the known issues with Colgate related to diversity, partying, Greek life and an upper class/entitled vibe. By the way, Colgate is in the National Small College Rugby Organization and made it to the championship contest, losing to Minnesota State University at Moorhead(!). Regarding the men’s team, there was no match between Colgate and Hamilton in 2015. Colgate is 1AA and Hamilton is DIII/National Small College Rugby Association.
Mythmom has a nice story about Colgate admissions, but the fact is most kids need to be at or above the mid 50%ile of a school’s SAT unless they have a special talent. Colgate values athletes.

FWIW - Colgate’s mid-50%iles on the SAT are V: 630-730 M: 640-730. Tufts are V: 670-750 M: 670-750. Colgate’s acceptance rate is 24%.

I would say at Colgate about a third of the people who applied to Cornell were accepted, but chose to come to Colgate over Cornell. Both schools had 27% acceptance rate last year, but Cornell probably had a more accomplished applicant pool and since its yield rate is 49% vs 34% for Colgate; so is a first choice for more students.
The Colgate Early Decision form says that an ED2 student will hear their decision within 4 weeks of receiving all materials. So, if you submitted everything (including the Early Decision form) before January 15, you would hear from Colgate by February 15th.
