I have an Arctis Pro+GameDAC. I only used Steelseries Engine to do some basic settings like turning off the LEDs and adjusting mic volume. And of course for the firmware updates. But today, after an update, my Engine turned into GG without a warning.
My steelseries engine just updated to GG and this is some horrible software. I was just using it an hour ago to control my headset and now I no longer have control unless I log in wtf? Then I log in and see that data collection is opt-out not opt-in and there's all this stuff like giveaways/news/blog posts/sales.
C:\ProgramData\SteelSeries\SteelSeries Engine 3\engineApps\system-stats None of the above helped. But, while I was messing around in the aformentioned folder, I noticed something - it seems that Steelseries HW monitor crashed every time when there was a file called "OpenHardwareMonitorLib.sys" automatically created in this folder...
Uninstalling and resinstalling the SteelSeries GG software. Downloading previous versions of SteelSeries GG / Engine that I've seen people suggest on other posts. Hard resetting the headset through the button under the left ear cushion. Connecting the headset to my PC through Bluetooth, the USB dongle and with the wired USB-C to USB-A connection.
I just noticed that my SteelSeries driver (Engine) has automatically updated to a new GG software ("thanks" for asking your customers, whether they needed this in a first place, mhh..), which includes a shitton of features that I hate and will never ever use.
They said they'd make a version of Engine that wouldn't auto-update, for those of us that wanted to stay on Engine and not update to GG. Turns out it just waited a little while before phoning home and force-updating to GG without permission, and literally required that the software be firewall-blocked from network access to prevent it from ...
if you've updated the engine recently, it currently messed things up. your headset has to be re-paired with the dac, u start by turning the headset on and hold the wheel button for 6 sec, and also turn on pairing on the DAC. The DAC will most likely display "ps4" and not pc on the dac atm, and the only way to turn up/down volume is to use the ...
SteelSeries Engine update 3.19.2 is here! Software. Engine's newest version includes some highly-requested updates: - Arctis Pro Wireless firmware update for PS5. - Aerox 3 firmware update.
SteelSeries' answer, instead of fixing the mouse firmware or fixing Engine or doing anything helpful was to just stop making the mouse and let the tickets about the issue die. I'm at my yikes out point with them. Engine used to be a decent dependable program but they've steadily broke it and made it buggy by forcing bloatware on people.
