Here's a great tip that has helped many people who run into this problem: search the inbox of different Email accounts that you have. If you can find a confirmation Email from Peacock, try using that Email address to sign into your Peacock account.
Following innumerable back-and-forths with xfinitians and Peacocks, it turns out that my problem was traced to the letter "t," missing from my email address in Peacock's database, which is to say that Peacock had somehow changed my Premium-eligible account in their database as "[my user name]@comcas.net."

We are also xfinity diamond members. Signed up for the year of Peacock Premium free this afternoon. The xfinity system indicates we have the free subscription but if we try to watch a Premium show we can't do it unless we sign up for a subscription for 2.99 a month??? Called this afternoon, but still cannot sign on to Peacock Premium shows.

Thence, I was transferred to the Peacock login page that said sign in to your Peacock Premium Xfinity Rewards membership (or something specific like that). I used my Comcast email (which was the same as the email I had originally used when Peacock was offered free) and my Peacock password.
