Given that the Crescent is the ONLY Amtrak service for folks living as much as 3-4 hours drive from the stations between Charlotte and Atlanta, the Crescent's new schedule makes Amtrak pretty much unusable for that entire region. Wasn't the new Crescent schedule supposed to be a bow to reality, intended to enable the trains to actually run on time?
Do we have a list anywhere of all the upcoming new Amtrak routes and the dates they are currently slated to start running? (As of Jan. 2024) For example, I know they want to reestablish a route from the Twin Cities to Duluth, and add an additional train running from MSP to Chicago along the...
Amtrak doesn't publish PDF timetables anymore. You can generate a PDF schedule by going to the Schedules tab on the website, entering From & To cities and a date, clicking on the train you want, and then clicking the Printer icon, but they only show arrival and departure times for each station.
Information on coming attractions from Amtrak front line personnel historically is unreliable, rumor mills at Amtrak apparently run at full bore. As the Facebook, well, it's Facebook. Poking around Amtrak's website today I discovered that the Ethan Allen Express schedule is changing effective Dec. 6, with the southbound running about four hours later than the current weekday schedule. It will now leave Rutland at 12:20 p.m., Albany at 3:15, and arrive at NYP at 5:45.
Over the past 5 to 6 years Amtrak has added 10 and a half hours of padding to the Sunset Limited's schedule, yet the train still arrive late most days. And sometimes by several hours, not just 20 or 30 minutes late.

Amtrak's training center is in Wilmington, DE and the train varies by where you'll work and the amount of rule books you'll need to learn. Ballpark 8-10 weeks. For NYP Which is Zone 2 which goes to PHL and WAS AFAIK you'd only need to learn one Rule Book.
