So the base commander (general) asked the Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau and any owners of major businesses to come out for a meeting on base. He also invited all the local news media to come. So many showed up they had to use the base theater.

Contractors are like any one else in business. They offer a service, give an estimate and do a project. If you don't need the service or product after a bid, a simple 'thanks for coming to the house. we'll contact you again if we continue with the project' or something like that.

BTW - I did read those posts on Pissed Consumer but they were all from people building in the mid-west. I checked with the Better Business Bureau which is a much better indicator of a businesses reputation. Lockridge had an A rating with the Better Business Bureau. I am sure it hasn't changed since I built my home.

The owner is heavily biased. He's probably in the apartment managers corner. I say that because the AM has been employed by the buildings owner for literally decades. I'm looking for a police-like agency of some sort. Not the Better Better Business Bureau, but something that's just like the BBB though with a little more weight.

This is a fairly common scam I think. I've seen alerts about this in the past. Most, if not all, states have laws that require banks to turn over unclaimed funds after x number of years, and these scammers prowl these state sites via computers looking to connect names to addresses and getting payoffs from unsuspecting consumers.

I think the important thing is to get a good, reliable moving company. Get some referrals, check the Better Business Bureau and check with your local city/county and see if they have a service similar to the BBB. Years ago I worked for a moving company and the guy who owned it was a real jerk.

Titi's ashes are beige with colored flecks and no bone chips. They look like sand with some cat litter thrown in. We spoke with our vet who can't explain why they look this way. We spoke with the crematorium which we found out does not specialize in cremations. They mainly dispose of medical waste.
