  2. Does James Woods have an IQ of 180? - Skeptics Stack Exchange

    skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/28536

The wikipedia article on Woods does not report anything, which seems highly unlikely. Even with a specialized test to measure such a high IQ, a score of 180 is extremely unlikely. Based on how IQ scores are built, 1 σ is 15 IQ points, therefore a score of 180 represents a 5.33σ percentile. This means that is achieved only in 1 test in 20,000,000.

  3. Does the gorilla, Koko, have an IQ in the range 70-95?

    skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/32155

    13. Koko is a western lowland gorilla kept in San Francisco. There are many claims about her IQ. For example: She was given IQ tests several times when she was younger and scored between 70 and 95, where 100 is considered normal for humans. Her carers insist she is not, however, a 'genius' gorilla, just typical for her species ….

  4. PC World reports that a "psychometric consulting" firm called AptiQuant gave free online IQ tests to 100,000 people, and then plotted the scores against the browser on which the tests were taken. It found that Internet Explorer users scored lower than average, while Chrome, Firefox and Safari users were very slightly above average.

  5. Does the average Ivy League student have an IQ of 145?

    skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/40634/does-the-average-ivy-league-student...

Just to illuminate the claim, an IQ of 145 represents the top 0.13% of the population. Harvard 15 years ago does not necessarily equate to all Ivy League schools 1 year ago. Although somewhat suspicious; I wouldn't take the Harvard static as any type of evidence for that being incorrect (though I am interested in more information on this as well).

  6. Does Lego increase a child's IQ? - Skeptics Stack Exchange

    skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/23607/does-lego-increase-a-childs-iq

    8. The Sun reports: PLAYING with Lego can make people BRAINIER, bosses claimed yesterday. A study found that those who are experts with the toy building bricks are more agile with their hands and solve problems faster than the average person. Can playing with some plastic pieces increase a child's IQ?

  7. 2. the military forbids anyone with an IQ under 83 from joining.

The existing IQ tests, simply by following their own theoretical approach to what intelligence is, are immediately wrong or invalid from boxloads of other, sometimes opposite, viewpoints. –– "History Part 2: At long last, theory meets practice" in: Alan S. Kaufman: "IQ testing 101", Springer: New York, 2009. Nassim Nicholas Taleb:

  8. Currently, the 1.1 standard deviation difference in average IQ between Blacks and Whites in the United States is not in itself a matter of empirical dispute. More recently, it has been observed that "[t]he IQ gap between Blacks and Whites has been reduced by 0.33 SD". They describe the gap further:

  9. James Woods has received millions of dollars in income over the last several decades, but hasn't saved a single baby from a burning building. The implication, of course, is that James Woods is a terrible human being that doesn't care about babies, or burning babies, but that he has the means to do so, increasing the monstrosity of his indifference.

  10. Is self-discipline more important than IQ in predicting academic...

    skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/40044/is-self-discipline-more-important...

Self-discipline measured in the fall accounted for more than twice as much variance as IQ in final grades, high school selection, school attendance, hours spent doing homework, hours spent watching television (inversely), and the time of day students began their homework.

  11. intelligence - Does North Korea have the third highest IQ? -...

    skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/16039

In IQ and the Wealth of Nations (Lynn and Vanhanen 2002) below, the IQ of North Korea (104) was calculated as the average (not median) of the IQs of South Korea (106), Japan (105), and China (100). I don't know why it was listed as 105 in Wikipedia. Edit: Like I said in a comment, I'm not arguing that North Korea actually has a high Greenwich IQ.
