If you were going to park the Volt at the airport for a month in the middle of winter, all you would have to do is run it in Mountain Mode prior to parking the car. That would keep the battery SOC nearer to the 50% optimal charge state for long term storage, rather than letting it sit at 20-25% SOC during the same period.

The car at the airport garage for about 36 hours, so it lost 14 psi in less than two days time. Then, over the next few weeks, every few days I would lose a couple PSI, and top it off. So this rate is 2-3 psi every 2-3 days, much slower than when it was parked in the garage.
(1) If at all possible, don't take the ELR to the long-term parking at the airport in July and leave it baking in the sun for a week. (2) If you absolutely have to leave it somewhere hot, the less charge the battery has in it, the better. (3) Try to find covered or shaded parking in the summer, it is good for the battery.
