There is a parking lot at the local airport that offers conventional 120 volt plugs at a few parking spots to those who want them. I have seen Teslas and Volts in those spots, and have left my Leaf there. If I leave the Volt plugged in on a 4 day trip, I don't think anything bad will happen but:

If you were going to park the Volt at the airport for a month in the middle of winter, all you would have to do is run it in Mountain Mode prior to parking the car. That would keep the battery SOC nearer to the 50% optimal charge state for long term storage, rather than letting it sit at 20-25% SOC during the same period.

My wife was able to call me from her car three levels underground in an airport parking garage when our Verizon cell phone couldn't make a connection to her cell phone. So there are times and places and events where OnStar could be the ONLY phone service you have. I got 300 hundred minutes for $10 when I took delivery of my 2013 Volt this past Sat.

For the parking brake, everyone is using it. When you shut down Gen1 Volt it will engage parking brake anyway. Every time. Less wear on the gearbox occurs if you manually engage the parking brake while on N and after it has cycled, turn the gearbox to P. In automatic parking brake mode any tilt will cause pressure to gearbox.

So it appears to turn the ICE on, just power up, set the parking brake and open the hood. The ICE will run at certain times by itself to warm up and circulate the oil and consume some gas. The manual goes into great detail on the maintenance screens. I can't recall ever prepping myself for a driving experience like this one.

Then there is the prestige parking like at Manuel's Tavern in Atlanta, where a string of four charging stations are right next to the 'covered' back door of the popular establishment. Only EVs are able to park there.

Assuming you are referring to the traction battery, the traction battery is in good condition and the car is not plugged in, you should not see a noticeable discharge within a week. Beyond about a week, I have no experience. I have returned to an airport parking lot after about 9 days to discover the 12v battery dead. Your experience may differ.

The car at the airport garage for about 36 hours, so it lost 14 psi in less than two days time. Then, over the next few weeks, every few days I would lose a couple PSI, and top it off. So this rate is 2-3 psi every 2-3 days, much slower than when it was parked in the garage.

    (1) If at all possible, don't take the ELR to the long-term parking at the airport in July and leave it baking in the sun for a week. (2) If you absolutely have to leave it somewhere hot, the less charge the battery has in it, the better. (3) Try to find covered or shaded parking in the summer, it is good for the battery.
