I've also heard LSP and local agencies use Signal codes: 18 = Stranded/broken-down motorist. 20 = Vehicle crash.

We only use a few 10 codes. 10-4 Acknowledge. 10-5 Transporting Non-Emergency. 10-6 Busy. 10-7 Out of Service. 10-8 In Service / Enroute to call. 10-9 Repeat.
10 codes were originally designed for air craft radio traffic and were "aural brevity codes" to keep radio traffic to a minimum. I think that dates back to the pre WW2 era when a lot, if not most, radio traffic was Morse Code, not voice. The "10-5" NH 10 code has been around since at least the 60's.

Even with Utah State, 10-38 can mean Computers Down or an AP&P check depending on what agency is using it.
14. Apr 17, 2010. #1. The 10 codes I find online for New Mexico law enforcement don't match what I hear. I live in San Juan County, New Mexico, in Farmington. I assume since all law enforcement trains at the state police academy, that all of these numbers should be the same statewide. I would also like to know the "codes". Like what a code 25 is.
