They will accept deed-backs, but it's rather ad hoc. If they offer to pay anything, it's likely to be less than resale. OTOH, HGVC TS's usually have some resale value.
HGV is investing several billion dollars to upgrade these resorts to HGV luxury and modernization standards. In my opinion, one can have superb vacations in any of the three. A complication is Hilton's acquisition of Diamond Resorts International (DRI). Some Diamond resorts can readily be re-branded to Hilton. Some will never be brought up to Hilton standards, other than that the towels say Hilton.
