I've seen various numbers quoted for 'inhabited Greek islands'. A 1999 survey quoted by the Greek Ministry of Press & Mass Media in 'About Greece' a book distributed to the Press and others quotes 169 inhabited islands. A Pub Quiz site says over 160 (safe bet!) The Greek Tourism site quotesthe same 227 as on Wikipedia.
