Want to get another AK, looking at PSA GF3, AK 103, Arsenal SLR 107, or the Kalashnikov USA KR 103. Arsenal is most expensive, not sure if it is worth it. Not sure about PSA prices, but they are never in stock. Not sure when the KR 103 will be out. Any help would be great.
Finished up my review of the Arsenal SAM5 milled AK and some pros/cons: Pros:-100% reliable to date-fit/finish are solid-everything is straight-accuracy is most certainly acceptable Cons:-can't get them new anymore-some folks will have issues with the weight vs. stamped guns Full review:
I received a Bear Creek Arsenal complete upper from a very good friend for Christmas this year. I was blown away at his generosity. When it came i looked it over and didn't see anything that was out of place or that looked wrong... that is until I tried to install a Magpul bipod mount on the M-Lok rail that came on the upper.
Zastava CS is better than Arsenal’s, and after seeing some of Arsenal’s business practices I personally won’t buy from them That said, the SAM7 will always be a collector, but bang for the buck right now the M70 is king, the new WASR of the market but better My 2¢ Also are you just looking at 7.62x39 guns or 5.56 AK’s as well?
Arsenal SLR-95 Arsenal SLR-96 Of the two imported rifles, the SLR-95 was the more prevalent model. Two versions of it were actually imported; one with a muzzle brake pinned to the barrel, and one without. Both rifles originally sold new for about $300 - $350, but today (2011) sell new for about $800 - $900.
Arsenal of Bulgaria is the manufacturer of the select fire AR-M1. The AR-M1 is the current production Bulgarian AK-47 (utilizing a milled receiver). Arsenal USA's K-101, SSR-99, and the Arsenal Inc SA M-7, are based on this Arsenal of Bulgaria AR-M1 model. Here is a photo of an Arsenal of Bulgaria AR-M1 (chambered in 7.62x39):
Arsenal Texas was the first importer of parts from Arsenal Bulgaria. When the Bulgarians saw this was profitable, they opened up the Las Vegas operation, & the 2 companies were selling guns/parts. Then Global started making 1.6, & 1.0 receivers designed by an ex Arsenal employee Ivan Kolev.
There are slews of complaints and concerns on the SAM5 guns beating themselves up pretty bad. The consensus is, install a KNS piston to adjust the atrocious over gassing with this model. The owners who tried Arsenal warranty repair were basically told to pound sand. So, you’ll have to fix it yourself.
That list came from the people at the Arsenal factory in Bulgaria except for the unconfirmed 2010 portion. Many people have picked up "new" Arsenal rifles that have date codes that are a few years old.
Frankly, I would prefer an Arsenal stamped choice (price, weight, etc.) but the SLR series appears to only come with the left folding stock. The real bite will be if I order the SAM7R-61 and Arsenal's milled receiver setup (read trunnion block and tangs) is incompatible for a collapsable stock also.
